Build the skills to manage stress and thrive
Description
Education is a physically and emotionally demanding field, and successful educators must intentionally develop their own resilience in order to thrive. This workshop will provide you with the tools to do just that.
Participants will explore the habits and dispositions of resilient educators outlined in Elena Aguilar’s Onward: Cultivating Emotional Resilience in Educators. They’ll spend time learning about themselves and develop a deeper awareness and understanding of their emotions. They’ll use this to help them to recognize entry points into cultivating resilience in themselves and then practice strategies for continuing to develop their resilience over the long haul. As participants boost their resilience, they will discover they have the energy to do the challenging work that is required of educators.

What people say
This learning experience was authentic and professional. It gave me a full view of my teaching journey and how my core values ignite my resilience and also the sphere of influence. It enabled me to talk about my story of a broken heart and how acknowledging emotions, accepting those feelings, and dealing with them allowed me to know myself. This process pushed me to ride the waves of change, build community, focus on the bright spots, cultivate compassion, and strengthen the instructional core.

Before we can really engage meaningfully and deeply with our students and colleagues, we need to be attentive to our own purpose. Taste of Onward really pushed me forward in my purpose. I always walk away from Bright Morning sessions knowing more about myself and my work; and this was no exception to that!
Howard
It put me on such a good path for thriving in the difficult circumstances we are in now – with the pandemic, the social-political turmoil, and the changing landscape of education. I would do it all over again; the learning and practices will stay with me for the rest of my life. A priceless investment in self-care and self-awareness.
Lynn
I loved the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussion, build community with others, and take away concrete strategies and tools that I can implement in my school environment.
