Did You Make it Through?
October 30, 2023
Congratulations. It’s the end of October! I want to say, you made it through, but what does it mean to “make it through?” Also, perhaps we should aspire to more than just “making it through.” So here are some Look Back reflection prompts to expand your notion of what it means to successfully reach the end of a month.
Look Back:
- When did you feel empowered this month? When did you feel like you had agency—like you could take action on your thoughts or desires? What did it feel like to take those actions?
- What did you learn this month about trusting yourself? Did you make any difficult decisions that felt like they were a reflection of trusting yourself? Did you feel validated in any decisions you’ve made that felt like a reflection of having trusted yourself?
- When did you feel like you were in flow this month? When did you feel like you were doing something skillfully (or even masterfully) and you also enjoyed it and time flew by?
These prompts address our core human needs for autonomy, trust, and competence. As I’ve said a few times in my newsletters, when our core human needs are met, we’re content. If we all just focused on getting our needs met (which we CAN learn how to do!) this world would be a different place—a much more peaceful place.
We can start taking tiny little steps towards that grandiose vision by pausing at the end of each month to reflect on how we met our needs, and by setting intentions at the beginning of the next month to meet them.
