A tiny tweak to save you hours
April 2, 2025

Have you had one of those experiences where you are simultaneously so happy with a change you made and so perplexed as to why it took you so long?
🙋🏽♀️I have.
Today I’m sharing one that might help you speed along a time-saving change.
Quick backstory: I’m in the midst of creating a Learning Library for team leaders (on-demand micro-learning experiences to meet the most common and pressing needs). I’ve already created the Transformational Coaching Learning Library, so I have a system for content creation in place. A key part of that system is a template I use to build each session.
The pain point: Each learning library has 48 sessions. Each time I created a session, I made a copy of my template. And each time I created a session I found myself:
- Adding in the same information for certain sections
- Changing the same information for certain sections
For each template, these changes took three minutes or so. Not a big deal, right?
That was what I thought for the first 10 I completed before realizing that meant I had already spent 30 minutes and by the end of my 48 sessions I would have spent 144 minutes! Almost 2.5 hours spent on something that I could have fixed in three minutes by adjusting my template 🤦🏽♀️?! No, thank you.
The lesson: Time spent optimizing repetitive tasks is a compound investment.
Three minutes later, I have a template that includes exactly what I need (and two hours of my life back) 💃🏽.
