6 Steps to Close a Knowing-Doing Gap
July 29, 2024

You want to do something different. You recognize you have a gap between your desired ability and your current reality.Â
‍
What does it take to close this gap? What does it take to do something new or different?Â
‍
Let this list serve as a reminder:
- You need an example of what you’re aspiring to do: for example, facilitate a Transformational Coaching conversation in 15 minutes.Â
- You need input: new content, new frameworks, new tools.Â
- You need to make meaning of this input with other learners. You need to talk about it and hear how others process it.Â
- You need guided practice to use that new input and feedback as you practice. You need a place to be messy and try things out.
- You need to activate your emotions and desire to practice and be vulnerable and make mistakes.Â
- You need to celebrate your growth and have others witness your growth.Â
‍
You get all of these in every Bright Morning workshop. In my in-person workshops, this experience will be profound: this is neurochemistry. Emotions are contagious. There’s nothing like being in a room with a hundred enthusiastic, eager learners to get your own brain rapidly integrating new content and rewiring. We are social creatures, and we need each other to learn.Â
