How Will You Introduce Yourself to Clients?

Here is some advice for everyone: Share a thoughtful introduction to set the tone for the year.
There are four ways to do this, with pros and cons.
- Whole staff: Everyone hears the same message, but you can’t make individual personalized connections.
- 1-1 in person: Personalized connections and opportunity for flow, but staying on script is harder.
- Email: You have control over what people read, but your tone of voice and facial expressions aren’t communicated… ⅔ of our messages are transmitted through our metacommunication—our body language, tone, pitch, pace, and volume.
- Video embedded in email: My top choice because you can read a script or reference it, you can watch the video and re-record. You can have a colleague watch it and give you feedback if you want. But with a video, you can’t gauge someone’s response in the moment and adjust what you’re saying.
There’s no wrong choice, but put your heart into it once you choose. Your future self will thank you.
