My Advice: Feel the Feeling
November 18, 2024
Time is a funny thing.
It feels like I was just saying goodbye to my son as he headed back to college…and now I’m just a few weeks away from getting him back for winter break.
If you’re an educator in North America, it’s likely you have 25 or fewer days of school left this calendar year. How are you doing?
I remember years when I was literally checking off the days on the calendar until break, and years when I was experiencing so much joy that time flew by, and I was surprised to wake up and realize there was no school the next day.
Whatever you’re feeling right now is okay. But I do have one piece of advice: feel what you’re feeling.
Carve out some time and space–even 10 minutes–to check in with yourself today. Better yet, do it right now.
This will help. Take a look and ask yourself:
- Where am I at?
- What is coming up for me about being there?
- How does it feel to recognize this is where I’m at?
Our emotions are a tremendous source of wisdom—when we are in touch with them.
They can also be the greatest risk to your happiness when they’re running the show without your knowledge.
You have ~25 school days to close out this calendar year on your terms.
Who do you want to be?
How do you want to show up?
What can you do now to set yourself up to thrive in 2025?
